reading at home
By Cathy-Dee

Clip to ScrapBook
I like using minutes rather than pages as the children are all at such different levels in reading especially this time of year. I use 15 minutes as a guideline for the parents. Earlier in the year I told parents to have their children read for about half of the time (or tell a story to the pictures if they were not reading yet) and then for the parents to read for the other half. Now I ask them to have the students read for the whole 15 minutes and then they can read after the 15 minutes is up. (Bedtime stories for example).

Also this somewhat depends on what reading materials are at home. I send books home myself that I know are at the student's reading levels.
