end of year
By Julianne

Clip to ScrapBook
At our school we take the tests very seriously ourselves, but the students don't know what a big deal they are. We don't talk much about them until we're actually taking the practice tests. When the final testing is done school goes on as usual. After all, there is still a lot of class time left and plenty for students to learn before they complete first grade. The material we teach in April and May will surely appear in some form on the second grade test at the end of NEXT year.

Of course, every classroom needs some down time at the end of the year. We just make sure most of our time is consumed in worthwhile activities. For instance, our first grade classroom will be studying space and the planets. This is great fun, but also real learning.
