Guided reading and centers
By Michelle

Clip to ScrapBook
Don't sweat it!!!

I split my kids according to there level. Then as I work with a group. My kids are doing an activity from the reading lesson and then they are allowed to go to centers when they finish the activiy.
I personally don't like having a set time for each center. I have a poster board with a pocket for each child on it then I have colored popsicle sticks( each color represents a center)and each pocket has three sticks in it. At the top of the stick is either a 1,2or a 3.
So for example: In mary's pocket she has a 1green, 2orange and a 3blue. This would mean she would go to the
green center first, the orange center second and the blue center third. If you really set the rules and tell them that there is no wondering around doing nothing, it really does a great job. If you have any questions just e-mail me at mmomenee@msn.com. Michelle
