report card comments
By KT

Clip to ScrapBook
I have been teaching 2nd and 3rd grade for many years and have had success balancing positive and negative comments on the report cards. I try to start with a general positive statement, ask for encouragement or further practice in necessary areas, then end on a positive note. I feel this is necessary as parents look back later on report cards as a reminder. Also, as a teacher, I sometimes look at last year's report card to see if there is a pattern of work habits, strengths and weaknesses etc. In a small space it is important to give an overall picture that is a permanent record. Not an easy task to do. It WILL become second nature to you as you go along.
