Here are a couple of activities
By Sarah Elliott

Clip to ScrapBook
***1. Get some information off the intrenet or check out a book from a local library about George Washington and tell them about the American Flag and how it was originated. Then have them make a Flag by taking a piece
of white construction paper, have them cut out red strips of construction paper and glue them on to the white for stripes which resemble the 13 orginal colonies and then have them color the uppper left hand corner blue and use stick on star stickers for the stars and glue a craft stick on the sky so it can float in the air. Have them do the pledge of alleigance and the national anthem...play
it for them at the same time so that they will start to get familiar with the words.

***2. Or you could get some information off the internet or check out a book from the local library about Abraham Lincoln and read it and explain it to them and then have them make a blue ribbon....the kind fancy ones like they give away at competions for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winnerr. Then have them glue a penny with the front side up in the middle of the ribbon and tie a piece of yarn at top so that they can hang it up.
