technology integration By Cathy-Dee

For my school division (in Alberta) we are quite progressive with technology and integration. Our central office has worked hard to ensure our school are well-equipped with computers and other hardware. All the principals| I've worked with are also very good at letting us order software, etc., The Alberta government has mandated outcomes for the integration of technology into the curriculums. This upcoming year our school division has also set up a committee of teachers (one from each school) who are facilitators within their school to help all their teachers find new ways and hopefully more effective | | ways to integrate technology. The principals were asked to choose someone from their staff to serve in this role. I'll be doing it for my school.I think the biggest shortfalls I've seen, is that although we are working hard at having the hardware, it wasn't easy keeping up with all the changes. Just when we think we have everything worked out, a better system comes along. We also have to deal with not enough systems for students to access the internet effectively. Too long to load pages, etc., Our central office administration has been working hard to try to bring high-speed access to our area. Overall I'm very pleased with the efforts within my school and division.
