Clip to ScrapBook
We have used some of the Living Books programs. They are fun for the kids and I think especially at the beginning of the year allow them to practice using the mouse and also to enjoy listening to stories as well as following along as they listen.

We don't use this program, but I've heard it mentioned frequently in posts from other teachers, Accelerated Reader. The program grows with the kids - as they progress in their reading skills they move on to more difficult books and questions. You can print off scores, etc., as well.
