Clip to ScrapBook
Evey teacher uses portfolios differently. I have found the same problems with the children not wanting you to keep their work so this year I have done the following: I use a large scrap book for each child and use it for
a dual purpose. It is their scrap book and their journal. we try to do a journal entry every week or at least every other week. In between journal entries I include work samples and paintings, drawings, etc. We do use some worksheets at times. I tell the students that this is their book to show off their work and that some things they do HAVE to go in the book. Now I find that they
will do an activity at, say, the writing centre and ask me to put it in their book. Several times a year we get the books out and the children look through it to see what they have done and how they have improved. Give it a try. Hope this helps.
