AB patterns

In regard to the AB pattern thing... Our curriculum (Investigations) puts a good deal of focus on patterns. The children don't need to use the words "AB pattern" but they should recognize and be able to predict and repeat a patern. Should a pre school program be working on this? I don't think so. there are so many other wonderful readiness type activities I would rather see. By the way, kids make patterns without necessarily being taught. It's the discussions about the patterns and the predictability that count most.
