School Supplies By Sandy

Our parents pay a book/supply fee at the beginning of the year and I use part of this revenue to purchase supplies for the entire class. We have a limit on class size and I buy for a full class even if I'm 1 or 2 kids below| the limit. That way I'm prepared when I get new enrollees the first week or two. I mark everything except crayons with a number that corresponds to a cubby number and supply box number. I send home a cute theme-related brochure to each incoming student during the summer (well before they would be buying their own supplies) welcoming them to kindergarten. In it I include a general daily | | schedule, plea for volunteers and a list of the things I need them to bring the first day of school (extra clothes, paint shirt, and towel for rest time). I mention that a supply box and its contents have already been purchased for them. This way every child has the same contents in his box that everyone else has. Any extra supplies coming from home are either put in the class art workshop for everyone to share or are returned home. This has worked out fine and I haven't had any problems.Sandy
