A and then E?

I am just curious why you do A and E so close together. I have found it hard for children to distinguish between the two sounds so I do them further apart. Please don't think I am criticizing you. I am definately not! I am just always wanting to learn new things and so it just occurred to me that you might have a different approach or take on the subject of what order to teach each letter.
