managing behavior
By Jennifer

Clip to ScrapBook
I am new to Kindergarten too and have 25 students half day. I am hoping to do Class Meetings - ideas from Teaching Children to Care, the Responsive Classroom and Jane Nelsen's positive discipline. I want to start tomorrow, if I can find the time! I plan to have students sit in a circle with chairs as oppose to the floor, make it an "official meeting" and go through the process of compliments, agenda item (for me this will be name-calling, etc. or hitting) I have never done this before let alone with K students but the goal is to build trust, class cohesion, etc.

Do you have a behavior chart system with cards? I am planning to start that soon too. Are you the only K teacher or can you talk to your team mates.
