I'm not sure what kinds of things your looking for. Do you have another K teacher in the building? I also have half day, and here are some of the things I do: 1. Calendar (daily) We figure out the "number day,"
4. Shared reading-daily. Use big books, poems and songs you've written on chart paper. Later in the year, many extensions can be added. Allow at least 30 min. each day for this. 5. Literacy centers-I'll start these at the end of October. Just lots of activities/games that have to do with reading and writing. 6. Centers-hard to explain, but each child does one "job" each day M-F. These can be related to any subject area and are done in small groups. They take about 20 min. 7. Play-very important to the kindergarten curriculum...blocks, house, games, puzzles, puppets, etc. I only have time for about 20 min. each day. I also take them outsidee twice a week. 8. Show and tell-once per week. Our schools has specials for kindergarten, so between that, snack, settling in, and dismissal, the days FLY by! I highly reccommend reading Joyful Learning in Kindergarten by Bobbi Fisher. She is incredible, and you will learn a ton! Have a great time; this is the sweetest age. Don't be afraid to e-mail me if you need anything else!
