Wow! What huge classes! I use the mail center from the company Really Good Stuff. They are easy, inexpensive, and can be put outside your classroom door if need be. For that many kids, I'd recommend getting one 30-slot unit and having the am and pm share a slot.
The other teacher uses file sorters from an office store. They're about two feet long, and each tab has a letter of the alphabet on it. She labels each tab with a child's name, and they flip. Hard to explain. I don't like them, though.
