Last September after 2 1/2 weeks of school I went to the hospital at 3am and ended up having emergency surgery. I missed 11 days of school and should have taken that extra week off but felt that it was the first of the year and yada, yada. The kids did fine, I had a great sub, she did fine, I, however, returned to work too quickly and suffered greatly from it. So my words of wisdom are take the time, see if you can come back to school for half days when you are scheduled to return so you can ease back into it. I'm betting everything will go just fine. Good luck with your surgery.
