Racetrack
By melissa

Clip to ScrapBook
A great activity for developing motor skills is to create a racetrack scenario. Give each student a paper plate steering wheel. Create a green flag for go, a red one for stop and a yellow one for "moving on the spot". Teach different types of movements based on commands. I've got a proper list in a manual at school but they're something like: forward, backward, skipping, crawling, hopping, etc. Commands might include things like oil slick (sliding on tummy), rainstorm (using windshield wiper arm movements), flat tire (hopping) etc.
