parents

Clip to ScrapBook
At our school, the kids almost all take the bus so the parents aren't around when the kids arrive. Also, I quickly thank the parents who are there and tell them that a quick goodbye is best so that the child gets used to
being more independent. You are right. It is the parents problem more often than not and they are adults. They can leave, tears and all. I say something like "Thank you, we'll take it from here. The day will be over before you know it. We'll call you if necessary." Discourage long goodbyes in the classroom - too much drama and it can upset the child. "Why is mommy so upset? Should I be worried
about something? I don't think I like this place." If Moms are crying, send them along quickly so the child doesn't see even if the child is upset. You can comfort the child, you really can.
