Kinder parents
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi LP,
In your initial letter to parents (we always mail one out for the kids and their parents prior to the opening of school), mention that parents are welcome in your classroom and you appreciate volunteers, but that
you'd like to give the children a chance to know you and their classmates and routines before they join you. Also, if you're able to schedule an informal open house before school starts, even if the room's not 'ready', it will ease anxieties for parents as well as children. Try a scavenger hunt (be sure to add that each family introduce themselves to a family they don't yet know, works
well and you're not the only one they're talking to!) or pot luck dessert table (for some reason, food seems to bring people together).
Best of luck! ;-D
