kinder homework
By Crystal

Clip to ScrapBook
My school also asks for everyone to have homework. At first I did not like it but now I love it. I use it also as a way to let parents know what is going on in class. On Friday I send a homework sheet for the whole week.
I used print shop weekly calendar(I just make the changes on my computer each week). I have a small activity for Monday-Thursday, but I tell the parents they can do them whenever they have time(takes 5-15 min). I use McCraken spelling to work on sounds, what we are studying in math, et. Some of the activities can be done in the car(parents like this). All homework is due the following
Friday. Parents can send in the work or just sign the sheet. For the students that bring in their homework(about half), they recieve class recognition, a stamp and a crayon(reward system) for their sticker exchange. I also let parents know what skill will be assessed each 6 weeks, and what we will be doing in class as a theme. The students who do the homework seem to have an easier time in first grade when homework is graded for the reportcard. I hope this helps.
