Clip to ScrapBook
Once you have parent support to be sure things will be returned (don't be surprised if all parents don't come on board)there are many things you can do. I send home an "I Can Read" book at the end of each week. Any chart
stories or poems/songs week learn that week are put into a duotang and sent home. I put a letter in the front of the book explaining the program and print on the outside of the duotang "Please return next day". I have had great success and parents enjoy reading with their children and seeing what they are learning. You can also send home small backpacks with various things inside.
one idea is to put a small stuffed dog inside with a metal cookie sheet and magnetic letters. The dog (or sound hound) helps the child play with the letters to create words. Add a small notebook and encourage children to print the words they created with the sound hound. Use your imagination and have fun.
