If you had poor response to the regular homework, I would try my hardest NOT to go to too much expense and expended energy with your backpacks. My experience is that they tend to not come back at all or come back lacking materials.I am sorry to sound like a pessimist. I am really not! It might work out better for you. But, I would urge you to come up with a system to ensure they get returned and a plan for what to do if they don't. I just hate for you to go to a lot of expense and effort and end up disappointed with what happens.
