"Naps"
By Angel

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach all day kindergarten, and I really believe that Rest Time is essential! Your classes will differ from year to year, and you can vary the Rest schedule to meet their needs. However, when they are in school for 8
(or sometimes 12 hours for day care students) they need a rest time. I put on classical music and most of my students rest for 1 -1 1/2 hours, depending on daily schedule. They have a mat, and a blanket. You will find that some students never rest, but they can be excellent helpers during this time. I had 2 students this year who never went to sleep unless they were sick. I taught them
how to pass out homework folders, papers, and other easy tasks.
In my school Rest time is usually the only "real" planning time we get. It is also and excellent time to assess students.
