Idea for classroom theme
By Michele

Clip to ScrapBook
Glenda,
I was thinking of something like this: "How 'high' can you go?" Do a theme like the solar system since that's the highest point. You could do a chart that lists the top goals you want your students to master.
Lists those goals and associate them with different things that are high in the sky. Start out with something low in the sky like maybe a bird. Once that goal is met by a child let them move their name or picture up to the bird. This could be a good assessment tool too. The next goal could be with a hot air balloon. Then an airplane and so on. Once a child reaches a planet in the solar
system (or the highest point) then they get some sort of a reward. I teach Kindergarten and my first goal for them would be to recognize all shapes and colors. Then address and phone number. Alphabet, numbers to 20, alphabet sounds would follow. You could always make a new chart with new goals if the first is completed before the year is over. I hope you understand what I am trying to say. This may be more than what you wanted. If you have any questions let me know!
Michele
