words

Clip to ScrapBook
Do you have a Word Wall? You could try introducing five words per week as in 4-Block. You could also do some of the on the back activities, have the children write each word three times in colors, snap, clap , stomp, the
letters of the word and repeat the word. Cheer the words. Match the words into configurations. Use teacher made mini books in which the words repeat and repeat and repeat!!! Make flashcards and let children help each other or do a concentration game with them (don't use all 45 at once of course.) Use magnetic letters on a cookie sheet or other metal surface and let students practice
with them. Use teacher fonts and write the words over and over to be traced.
I AM SO PROUD OF YOUR EFFORTS, AS A FIRST GRADE TEACHER I JUST WISH THAT OUR KINDERGARTEN TEACHERS WERE AS CONSCIENTIOUS ABOUT SEEING THAT OUR RISING FIRST GRADERS COULD READ EVEN HALF THAT MANY WORDS!
