Don't panic.

There is such a thing as reading readiness, and many kindergarten children DON'T have it! Teaching in Grade one, I found that many kids just seem to begin reading one day.
If the children know their letters and sounds, you have done your job in kindergarten.
Kindergarten is the only place they learn through hands on.
I say....RELAX your program and enjoy watching your students DO THINGS...not worksheets.
