* Have you thought of making chocolate hearts? - as a cooking craft.
* doing a heart shaped card out of red cardboard and getting the children to draw a picture of the special person in their lives that the card is going to.
* A heart shaped card with the children's handprints inside?

I don't know if this has helped, but it might help get your mind clicking over. This is what I've seen in Preschools and it works well.
