end of day routine
By MJ in GA

Clip to ScrapBook
We have snack near the end of the day or right before our afternoon PE. As the children finish snack, they are called either individually, by bus number, day care bus, whatever to "follow the procedure". The procedure is
this: clean up your place of crumbs, etc. Throw away your napkin, get some water, and get everything out of your cubby. Then go to your seat and put everything at your place. Do not permit them to go through their day's work because mixups with neighbors will occur! While this is going on, the "Coat and Bag Helpers" (usually 2 students for the week) are passing out the coats and bags.
This cuts out the confusion and crowd back at the coat/bag storage area.

You have to teach this procedure during the first week of school with many reminders, but after about a week all you have to say is _____, follow the procedure. They learn to use this terminology and really impress their parents and substitutes when they do!
